Pattern No. 008: Pasha's Tent
Pattern No. 008: Pasha's Tent
“Tatreez Takeout” is inspired by Wafa Ghnaim’s experience learning Palestinian embroidery from her mother, Feryal Abbasi-Ghnaim. As children, Wafa and her sisters were asked to draw the patterns they wanted to embroider before beginning a project. Drawing the pattern was part of the process of planning, learning, and understanding the embroidery.
Wafa created “Tatreez Takeout” in 2020 as a virtual tatreez program and educational resource. Each embroidery pattern is designed to provide historical context alongside the embroidery pattern, including stitching strategy, meaning, color recommendations, oral history, regional information, historical context, and, when available, documentation of the source dress (thobe) from which the pattern was developed. These resources were produced by Wafa without the use of AI, and are purely her original work presented alongside published and cited resources on Palestinian embroidery when applicable.
Many of the patterns were reformatted and redesigned in 2022, and the copyright date reflects that. These instructional materials, written content, and other materials created by Wafa Ghnaim are protected by copyright, though the patterns themselves belong to the wider community and are not copyrightable.
Please respect the work of the researcher. The patterns are intended for personal study, learning, and embroidery. They may not be reproduced, redistributed, resold, uploaded, or incorporated into another commercial or educational resource without written permission from Wafa Ghnaim. Please provide attribution when sharing or teaching from these materials.
