Digital Card: Happy Birthday to Feryal Abbasi-Ghnaim, Our Tatreez Teacher

We celebrate Feryal Abbasi-Ghnaim, whose hands have stitched more than tatreez—they have stitched together the future of Palestinian embroidery in the diaspora. Through her work, we remain grounded in all that she has taught us, helping us to continue tatreezing on, even as we are far from our homeland. We honor the many ancestors that have contributed towards the indigenous knowledge lineage of tatreez throughout the centuries. From living rooms to lecture halls, Ms. Feryal has shown us that tatreez is a form of love, legacy, and resistance. As students, friends, and family, we are grateful to have learned from her: not just how to embroider, but how to carry ourselves with patience, intention, integrity, steadfastness, and pride.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Ms. Feryal!
